So I went to the gas station to “tanka” and buy some propane for the grill. I filled the tank with diesel and was mildly surprised to see that he total damage was over 1000 SEK, $150. The real shocker came when I went to get the propane. $200 for the tank and $70 to fill it!

Our neighborhood had their annual kräftskiva (crawfish party) tonight. It was really fun to meet all our neighbors and the girls all had a great time meeting the kids in the neighborhood. Our new neighbor Jörgen had an impressive repertoire of drinking songs and his daughter Carolina stayed up late playing cards With M, T, and S.

I was in bockholmen for dinner and saw this beautiful view from the dinner table. The light from the moon and the dusk was just gorgeous.

Today was the first day of school at Ålstenskolan. Actually, it was only uppropning, which is kind of like an open house / welcome day.

I like the one of Maja’s teacher introducing her to some of the girls in her class. Maja was so shy, but said that she “loved school” on the way home. Tilde and Stella seemed to like it too.

Also, we saw a deer on the way to school, so I had to take a picture.

Found a great route for running, mostly along the water on trails like this one. Just gorgeous on clear mornings like this one.

Tilde was very excited about riding her cousin Ella’s scooter at a local skate park. It’s a really nice park. Everyone skating there seemed to be either under 10 or over 40. I might have to break out the old Christian Hosoi and give it a try.

We went to the circus today which was out in a big open field called “gärdet” near the northeast edge of town. Beautiful spot. It was strange to take a crowded subway to such a wide open space.

Today was Stella’s “name day” which is sort of like a mini birthday for all of the people of the world, or at least Scandinavia, who share a name. We celebrated with a delicious princess cake from Gateau Bakery.

I came across this on my morning run. “Dambad”, which means women swim – a swimming spot for women only? What happened to equality of the sexes??

We spent a little time getting to know our new neighborhood today. It really has a great small town feel to it, but just a short train ride from town. We came home and found a fox in our driveway tonight! Or I should say, it sure looked like a fox. We met the teachers and principal at the kids’ school, all of whom seem very good. Beautiful sunset tonight which hopefully means no rain tomorrow!
